Oh, praises be Andrew Sullivan's The Daily Dish! It isn't just about Andrew Sullivan, it is about the quality of his readers and the comments of theirs he highlights, often as a "dissent of the day."
As a great example, Andrew drew the comparison between Hillary and Obama as that of Mac and P.C. One of his readers rightly pointed out the problems with that comparison and suggested a far better one: Obama as an open source code, Hillary as corporate ownership.
Diligent readers of this blog may have picked up on
my distrust of and mild disdain for Mac. It's corporate, but pretends to be a revolution. But again, it's corporate. Well, imagine how delighted I was to see the reader show how Hillary is in fact the Mac, knocking Hillary and Mac both in one great metaphor. Now that's great use of language. Kudos to Sullivan for posting this as a dissent of the day.
And I find the comparison to be interesting. We can see clearly (again from the Dish) that Obama intends to make his presidency an open source revolution. Imagine what happens if he succeeds and changes Washington forever. Am I young and stupid for believing this or young and ahead of the curve?
Time will tell.
